The timing of the US Air Force was really impressive. 10 seconds before the deadline, a car stopped in front of you and a young soldier asked you

"Are you Doctor Davis?"

You nodded and then he got out of the car in order to help you with your luggage. The drive to Luke Air Base was really fun, the soldier was Italian and he entertained you with some funny stories of their family, you laught until the tears when he told you about the day that he ate mamma's meatballs and changed them with cat food for not being discovered. It was a nice change considering the behaviour of Major "asshole" Samuels.

At Luke you had a transport waiting for you. It was a big four helix motors plane painted with the grey of US Air Force. When you took a seat Major Samuels appeared and handed you two folders. 

"Here you are, your gossip magazines for the flight. You will be more interested in the second one, but you need to read both of them to have the real picture of the situation" 

After that, you looked at the first folder with a mix of curiosity and respect. What the hell was the Stargate project? 

So you opened the folder and started to read.

In 1928 the Langford expedition found in the plains of Gizah ,Egypt, a big metalic ring inscribed with strange hieroglyphics inside. After some testing during World War II, the project was abandoned because of the lack of a proper technology to operate it properly

In 2017, Daniel Jackson, a Egyptologist and linguist is invited by Catherine Langford to translate the hyeroglyphs in order to run the device. A week later, Jackson determined that the hieroglyphs refered to a "stargate" wich uses constellations as spatial coordinates with a fixed origin point. On this revelation, Jackson is shown that the base has its own Stargate. The SGC used Jackson's coordinates to align the Stargate's metal ring with markings along its outside, and once all seven were locked in, a wormhole was stablished, connecting the Stargate with other one in a distant planet.

A team was sent through the wormhole with a nuclear bomb just in case that the new planet was a serious threat for Earth inhabitants.

The planet, called Abydos and their people Abydonians, was a arid desert planet with people who has been brought there by an alien race called the Goa'uld. Goa'ulds pretended to be human Gods, but their only power was their superior technology, far away for everything known by the mankind at the moment.

The Goa'uld ruling Abydos was, in past because he is dead, Ra. According to egyptian mythology, he was the God of sun and father of the other gods. 

The abydonians, who spoke a variantion of Ancient Egyptian, believed that the SGC teams were emissaries of Ra and treated them as demigods. Through hidden markings and discussions with the tribe, Jackson learnt that Ra was an alien being who had come to Earth during the Ancient Egyptian period, looking to possess human bodies to extend his own life. Ra enslaved these humans and brought some to this planet through the Stargate to mine the mineral that is used in the alien technology. The humans on Earth revolted, overthrew Ra's overseers, and buried the Stargate to prevent its use. Ra forbade the humans in the tribe from becoming literate, fearing another revolt. During this investigation, Jackson came across a cartouche containing six of the seven symbols for the Stargate, but the seventh has been broken off. 

That night, Ra's ship landed atop a pyramid, and O'Neil's men the team were captured or killed by Ra's soldiers. When Jackson, O'Neil, and the other men returned, they ended up in a firefight against Ra's soldiers. Jackson was killed and the others captured. Ra placed Jackson's body in a sarcophagus-like device that regenerated him. Ra then explained to Jackson that he had found the nuclear bomb the humans brought and had used his alien technology to increase its explosive power a hundred-fold, and threatened to send it back through the Stargate. Ra ordered the human tribe to watch as he prepared to execute Jackson and the others to demonstrate his power, but the abydonians created a diversion that allows Jackson, O'Neil, and the others to escape.

Ra sent out fighter ships against the humans while he ordered his ship to take off. The humans outside were forced to surrender to the fighter ships' pilots when they ran out of ammo, but the rest of the tribe, having finally learned of their false gods, rebeled against the pilots and overthrown them.

O'Neil realized that Ra had rigged the bomb to prevent him from disarming it. O'Neil and Jackson decided to use the teleportation system to transport the bomb to Ra's ship. The ensuing blast destroyed the ship in space.

With the humans freed, the remaining team prepared to return to Earth, but there was a problem. The 7th symbol. After some time Jackson figured that the 7th symbol were different in every planet, because the origin was different in every planet. Finally, they used the 6th known symbols plus the unique different glyph of the call home device (the origin) to opened a wormhole to home. All the team returned but Jackson who stayed in the planet for studying their people.

The second one, is related to the organic tissue that you have studied. The specimen comes from a hostile alien and it was located in the guts of the guy in some kind of marsupial bag.

Those alien were able to receive more than one shoot of MP90 before dying and your studies, and other studies done by Doctor Fraiser shown the incredible regenerative capabilities of the being. Unfortunately, 6 hours after the death of the alien these capabilites are lost.

You were so distracted by the report that you didn't notice Major Samuels seated in front of you. He smiled and said to you "I know that it could be hard to believe, but in the air force we don't have any sense of humour. Did you have understood everything? any doubt?

He smiled at you with an acid grin. 
"Don't worry about those formalities. You will have more than you could handle tomorrow. "

He saluted you ironically and left the room.

When you arrived you discovered that your transport was a F22 fighter, with bombs and missiles enough to blow up a small country. The pilot introduced himself as Captain Hollins, code name Viper, and handed you an envelope.

"Sir, please sign this document according to you have received a sealed envelope. I'm not authorized to know its content. When we will arrive to Peterson the folder will be recovered by an intelligence officer. It's that understood?"

The landing was gentle and, the most important, on time. The landscape of the airstrip was really impressive for someone who was born and raised in Diablo. The green of the grass and of course the snow in the top of the mountains surrounding the base. It was the first time in your live that you had seen snow without regard TV programs.

Major Samuels saluted you and whished you luck. Unfortunatelly he couldn't stay with you because he was recruiting people across the States. He was a nice guy, for being an officer from the air force.

A jeep was waiting for you in order to transfer you to your destination. You left Peterson heading to Mount Cheyenne which was really close to the base. When you arrived a couple of guards asked for your ID card. You handed them your transfer orders and you were granted to access to the complex. When you entered into the base an airman saluted you and asked you to follow him into an elevator. He passed his ID card through a card reader and the elevator went down until floor 27.

The airman, saluted you again and said "Sir, Major Davis is waiting for you in the briefing room. Follow the red line in the floor and you will arrive with no problems. Welcome on board"

The travel was kind off being in a rolecoster, completely drunk and after a hot dog contest. Moreover, you were trying to understand the Air Force sense of humor because that couldn't be possible. 

One hour and half later, the F22 Raptor landed softly in the airstrip. The landscape of the base was really impressive, the contrast between the green of the grass and the snow in the highest peaks were simply amazing. Unfortunately, an intelligence agent didn't let you to enjoy the views when he recovered rudely the folder.

"Thank you for your cooperation Doctor. You have a jeep waiting for you in the hangar"

And so it was. A jeep was waiting for you in order to transfer you to your destination. You left Peterson heading to Mount Cheyenne which was really close to the base. When you arrived a couple of guards asked for your ID card.

When the doors opened the airman told you "Doctor, Major Davis is waiting for you in the briefing room. Follow the red line in the floor and you will arrive with no problems. Welcome on board"

A wormhole, aliens pretending to be human Gods, spaceships... It was too much to assimilate. If it wasn't Major Samuels who was in front of me, I'd have thought that this was some kind of joke. 

"So... There are portals that connect planets together... And according to the second folder we are still using these portals... Right? Is the Stargate where we are going to? Do we know who built them?"

The specimen is not from our planet, that explain a lot of things, I thought.

"Oh and if the capabilities of the being are lost 6 hours after the aliens death... Does it mean that we have alive aliens there in Colorado? If all of this is true, it's amazing".

Now that I knew all this information I was more excited. I couldn't wait to arrive to Colorado and start my research.

Major Samuels chuckled in a petulant and annoying way

"Oh, we don't have a living alien at home. They were shooting our soldiers up and we decided to return the gift to them, a big and noisy gift of lead. I'm not a scientist, I'm a man of action" he got close to you and he touched your chin with his hand. One breath later he went away slowly, you could sense the smell of a cheap after shave and the warmth of his body... and nauseas and repulsion

"We are arriving in 30 minutes. You will be transfer from Peterson Air Base to Mount Cheyenne. You will receive more information when you arrive. But we hope that you can enlarge the regeneration capabilities of the alien. By the way, it's look like an eel or a snake...."  You hope that the last sentence was not a sexual reference... and resumed your reading.

Just in time the plane landed at Peterson. The landscape of the base was really impressive, the contrast between the green of the grass and the snow in the highest peaks were simply amazing. Thank goodness that you had the chance to left Major Samuels' company.
